Tokina 20-35 2.8 AT-X 235af Pro Review

I just picked up this lens today. I wanted something wider than the two 28MM zoom lenses I currently have on the rebel. I reviewed several lenses before making my decision.  I looked at the Sigma 12-24, 15-30, Canon 17-40L, and the Tamron 19-35. The Canon is the best lens in this group. However, it also costs between 600 and 700 dollars. I am planning on investing that in the 70-200 F4l later this year, so I needed to find something a little cheaper.  Ultimately, it came down to the lens being 150 dollars off the retail price at the local camera store. That and a constant 2.8 aperture throughout the zoom.

My first impression is that it is built like a tank. It came with a pouch, front, and rear lens caps.  The first shots were promising. I took these at the home and garden show in Charlotte, NC.

Image taken at the Southern home and Garden Show. The wide aperture definitely helped with the indoor shooting.

Another image showing the crowd. A nice view of the flowers and good indication of the color rendition
